Thinking Toward Christmas

As I turn my focus toward Christmas and the REAL Reason for the Season, JESUS, I have to think of preparing my heart to receive my Saviour anew.  How can I know Him more this year?

I was watching The Nativity Story and something caught my attention. When Mary and Joseph are traveling toward Bethlehem, they stop at a shepherd's fire to warm up. He says to her, "We are each given a gift, yours is what you carry inside of you."  Then later in the movie when the baby is born and the shepherds come to see, this old shepherd kneels down and reaches out toward them and draws his hand back. Mary looks at him and says, "He is for all mankind. We each are given a gift."  She reminds him of his own words to her that the "gift" was what she carried inside and he realizes that we all have been given that same gift.  Through the resurrection of Christ we can all carry this Gift inside us!  All He is He is in you!  That's exciting!

I encourage you in these days before Christmas to reevaluate what's inside of you. Don't get caught up in the trappings of tradition, but seek a quiet place to get with God and ask Him how you can know Him better in this season. As I look back of this year 2011, I see many times that I missed the mark, many times I said the wrong thing or just plain messed up, and I am reminded just how imperfect I am and how very much I need this Gift every single day!  I am so thankful that God sent His son wrapped up in flesh to meet us where we are!

Share the Gift with someone else every day! All He is, He is in you!

Merry Christmas everyone!
